December 22, 2020 After deaths, state imposes requirements on care home The state of Oregon has ordered a local care home for dementia patients to stop taking in any new patients until further notice, and to maintain minimum staffing levels. Eleven patients at Marjorie House Memory Care Community in McMinnville have died from COVID-19 this month, according to Yamhill County Public Health. The state’s weekly outbreak report issued Dec. 16 said 42 people have been infected. Marjorie House Administrator Ashley Dowell did not return calls for comment by press time. Yamhill County reported 87 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, the total of Saturday, Sunday and Monday, bringing the county’s total to 2,406 cases to date. It also reported another death, making 32 county residents who have died with the disease so far.

OC Health Officer issues two new orders | Orange County Breeze

County Health Officer Dr. Clayton Chau issued two Health Officer’s Orders this week: New Health Order to Help Prevent Spread of COVID-19 in Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly: As of December 16, 2020, all residential care facilities for the elderly (RCFEs) must cancel all communal dining and indoor communal activities within 24 hours of when a resident and/or employee is diagnosed with COVID-19. The facility may resume these activities after it has completed two consecutive rounds of COVID-19 tests for all residents and employees that are at least 7 days apart and the tests have all returned negative. All RCFEs that are permitted to hold communal dining and indoor communal activities must ensure that they are following the COVID-19 prevention guidelines found at https://occovid19.ochealthinfo.com/sites/virus/files/2020-10/RCFE%20Activity%20and%20Visitation%20Guidance%2010-25-20.pdf (pdf).
