A total of 234 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from the Kingdom of Bahrain and United Arab Emirates were brought home following a special mission to the Middle East.

The 234 repatriates include three abandoned minors, several detainees
who had been imprisoned in Dubai, wards, and minor children from the
shelters of the Philippine embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General
in Dubai. They were either affected by lockdowns, unavailable commercial
flights, or expired work contracts.
The repatriation was facilitated by the 14-man Philippine special mission, led by Special Envoy and Presidential Assistant on Foreign Affairs and Chief of Presidential Protocol Robert EA Borje, Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Sarah Arriola, and Presidential Communications Operations Office Assistant Secretary for Global Media and Public Affairs JV Arcena

PARAÑAQUE CITY, Dec. 29 (PIA) Presidential Assistant for Foreign Affairs (PAFA) Robert E.A. Borje, Special Envoy of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, and Bahrain’s Assistant Foreign Minister H.E. Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al Doseri today reaffirmed the special ties between the Philippines and the Kingdom of Bahrain during their meeting at the Bahrain International Airport.
Special Envoy Borje arrived in Manama, the Capital of the Kingdom of Bahrain, for an official visit from Dec. 28-31, 2020.
Joining the Philippine delegation are Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Sarah Arriola and Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary for Global Media and Public Affairs JV Arcena.

President Duterte’s Special Envoy to Bahrain reaffirmed the special ties between the Philippines and the Kingdom of Bahrain during his official visit to the Muslim country.
Presidential Assistant for Foreign Affairs (PAFA) Robert E.A. Borje arrived in the Kingdom of Bahrain on Monday for an official visit until Dec. 31.
He was joined by Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Sarah Arriola and Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary for Global Media and Public Affairs JV Arcena.
Assistant Foreign Minister H.E. Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al Doseri and Philippines’ Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain Alfonso A. Ver welcomed the Philippine delegation at the Bahrain International Airport.
