The Commonwealth of Virginia could face legal action if a proposal on faith-based adoption agencies is enacted by state lawmakers.
HB 1932, as introduced in the lower chamber of the Virginia General Assembly, would likely put faith-based adoption agencies out of business if, because of their religious convictions, those agencies deny same-gender couples adoption and foster care placements. It s not the first time it s come up, according to Victoria Cobb of the Family Foundation of Virginia. There s a long history [with this] in Virginia, she tells One News Now. And in fact, it was attempted to be put into regulations as a discrimination against faith-based providers. We were able to block that and actually put a protection into our law.
