16 million Premium Bond holders have never won a single prize
But 12 savers became millionaires on their first draw

Three-quarters of all Premium Bond holders – nearly 16 million people – have never won a single prize, despite investing a collective £108bn, Telegraph Money
can reveal.
National Savings & Investments’ hugely popular Premium Bonds enter customers into a monthly draw in lieu of interest, with prizes ranging from £25 to £1m.
But 15.9 million of a total 21.4 million Premium Bonds customers have not won a single prize since NS&I’s records began in 2007, a Freedom of Information request submitted by this newspaper has shown.
The latest example comes from Swedish superstore Ikea. Anyone with an old Billy bookcase destined for the scrapheap should cancel their trip to the tip. Ikea will now reclaim old furniture.
Family Building Society chief to chair BSA

Family Building Society chief executive Mark Bogard has been elected as the new chair of the Building Societies Association.
He succeeds Yorkshire Building Society chief executive Mike Regnier and takes up the role with immediate effect.
Bogard has been deputy chair at the BSA since 2019 and is replaced in this role by Marsden Building Society chief executive Rob Pheasey.
The term of office for the BSA chair and deputy chair is two years and both are unpaid roles.
Bogard has 20 years’ experience in financial services.
He became chief executive of National Counties Building Society in 2012 before the lender launched the Family Building Society brand in July 2014.

Such prize draws were once the domain of National Savings and Investments, which distributes Premium Bond prizes to millions every month. But Halifax, Nationwide Building Society, the Post Office and Family Building Society have also piled in and hand out between them cash prizes to tens of thousands of savers every month on top of savings interest.
