BOONE COUNTY â Black doctors, nurses and health educators will lead a forum Wednesday night on COVID-19 vaccines, specifically for the Black community in Boone County.Â
From 6 to 7:30 p.m., the Columbia/ Boone County Public Health and Human Services, MU Health Care, Boone Hospital Center, the County of Boone and the Student National Medical Association will put on Let s Talk: COVID Vaccines and the Black Community virtually.Â
Sara Humms, community relations specialist for the Columbia/ Boone County PHHS, said the goal of the forum is to connect. Our goal is to listen and to answer questions, Humm said. Learn about some barriers people are facing so we can try to work on breaking those barriers down and then also just provide information that folks need to make a decision on if they want to get the vaccine

Delainey Mellott
SALINEVILLE Delainey Mellott, daughter of Rick and Jessica Mellott of East Liverpool, has been selected as the Kiwanis Student of the Month for February at Southern Local High School. She is ranked third in her graduating class with a 4.378 GPA.
Delainey has been an Honor Roll student throughout her high school career. She is an active member of National Honor Society, Varsity Club, President of Senior class and Student Council. She was on the 2019 Fall Homecoming Court and 2021 Winter Homecoming Court. She has participated in the College Credit Plus Program at Kent State and Eastern Gateway Community College.

ATHENS – More than 2,300 students graduated with bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate degrees from Ohio University for fall semester 2020. Students included:
. Mariah Blake of Salem graduated with a Master of Business Administration (Accounting Concentration) from OHIO’s College of Business.
. Kylie Gardner of East Liverpool graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from OHIO’s College of Health Sciences and Professions.
. Kendra Hoover of East Palestine graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Communication majoring in Media Arts and Studies – Integrated Media from OHIO’s Scripps College of Communication.
. Samantha Kibler of Alliance graduated with a Master of Physician Assistant Practice from OHIO’s College of Health Sciences and Professions.
