Guwahati/Agartala, Dec 29 : As the people across the world keenly await a Covid-19 vaccine, a mock-drill, called dry-run, of coronavirus vaccination was done effectively involving 250 health workers on Monday and Tuesday in two northwestern districts of Assam: Sonitpur and Nalbari. All the 250 health workers spontaneously participated in the dry-run of the vaccination without any technical hitch or any other problem, said a senior official of the National Health Mission (NHM), which had been mandated to carry out the task.

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Harsh Vardhan said Monday the number of MBBS seats in government-run institutes across the country has gone up to 42,495 with the recent additions and the plan was to further increase it to 80,000 to meet the ratio of one doctor per 1,000 people as recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
“The health ministry is striving to achieve the WHO target of the doctor-patient ratio of one (physician) for every 1,000 by 2021. Our government has been making an honest endeavour to increase the overall availability of MBBS seats to 80,000 with the urgent aim to bridge the gap in requirement of doctors,” Vardhan said. He was addressing a ceremony to mark the beginning of the first academic session All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rajkot, to run from a temporary campus for now, through video-conferencing from Delhi.

Rajkot : , Dec 21 (IANS) Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Harsh Vardhan virtually inaugurated the first academic batch of MBBS students at All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Guajarat s Rajkot city on Monday for the 2020-21 batch.
The Deputy Director informed that the institute s first academic session will be for 50 students.
Apart from Harsh Vardhan, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was also present at the ceremony held at Pramukhswami auditorium on the Raiya Road. Minister of State (MoS) for Health and Family Welfare, Ashwini Kumar Choubey, and state Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel also attended the ceremony.
