India s Covid-19 pandemic growth has dropped to 2%: Minister
Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Saturday announced that India is at the cusp of authorising the first set of Covid-19 vaccines and expressed the need for an expeditious vaccination drive to cover all the target populations estimated to be around 300 million (30 crore).
The Minister made the announcement while chairing the 22nd meeting of the high-level Group of Ministers (GoM) on Covid-19 through a video-conference here as India crossed the one crore infection mark.
The academic session, it stated, would be inaugurated by Vardhan through video-conference in the presence of Chief Minister Vijay Rupani at a ceremony at Pramukhswami auditorium on Raiya Road. MoS Health and Family Welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey, and state Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel will also attend the ceremony. “The first batch consists of students from all over the country. They have been selected through merit in the all-India combined NEET,” Sinha said.
The state government has allotted land for the AIIMS campus at Para-Pipaliya village on the northern outskirts of Rajkot city. For the time being, the institute will function out of a section of the building of the state-run PDU Medical College.

It should be noted meanwhile that Dr Vardhan also appealed the need for diligently maintaining a COVID appropriate behaviour and follow the relevant guidelines. In addition to this though, Dr Vardhan also expressed deep gratitude to all COVID warriors, who have been steadfastly serving without any fatigue throughout the pandemic.
