Preston Haskell must pay his model ex-wife Alesia Vladimirovna £50k in next two weeks or face jail

A Texan property tycoon embroiled in a fight over money with his Belarusian model ex-wife could go to jail if he does not pay her £50,000 in the next two weeks. US-born Preston Haskell IV was ordered to shell out more than £5million to the mother of his three children, Alesia Vladimirovna Haskell, in early 2020. The sum was expected to be paid in installments, but Mrs Haskell on Monday told a High Court judge that Mr Haskell had not paid money in breach of orders. Mr Justice Moor ruled that Mr Haskell s failure to pay Mrs Haskell £50,000 in breach of another judge s order was in contempt of court.

Mr Justice Holman said everyone involved in the case agreed it would be best if the woman left home, on a specified day near her due date, so she could give birth in hospital in a “planned way”. The issue was whether the use of force should be permitted, in circumstances where no emergency had arisen, he said. Lawyers representing hospital bosses responsible for her care had said the use of force should be approved. But lawyers representing the woman had disagreed, and said she should be allowed to give birth at home if she would not leave and could not be persuaded to leave, unless an emergency arose.

Six-year-old Pippa Knight had been in a vegetative state at Evelina Children s Hospital in London. Her mother, Paula Parfitt, previously challenged a decision by doctors to withdraw life support treatment, but failed in the courts. The hospital s lawyers confirmed Pippa has now died. Pippa began having seizures at the age of 20 months and was diagnosed with acute necrotising encephalopathy. Mr Justice Poole made a ruling in January, following a hearing in the Family Division of the High Court, that doctors could lawfully stop providing life support treatment and allow Pippa to die.
