Farm-fresh food. A compelling cause. Live music. And tomatoes, lots of tomatoes, in varied shapes, sizes and colors. All these factors combined for a fruitful 2021 Tomato Feastival on June 6 at the Goodwood Museum & Gardens.
“It was just an amazing turnout,” said Kate Wasson, a board member of the Red Hills Small Farm Alliance and Feastival planner. “We were hoping for 500 people and when I saw the line wrapped around for blocks I couldn’t wrap my head around it. It was a wonderful, wonderful event.”
Early estimates project there were at least 1,100 attendees at the event, a longtime tradition of the Red Hills Small Farm Alliance, a nonprofit supporting our local farming community.

Originally set to take place in Tallahassee s Cascades Park, the two-day event quickly relocated to a number of alternate venues.
Even the occasional tornado warning over the weekend didn t stop Tallahassee s Word of South Festival. The combined music and literary celebration simply packed up and moved indoors.
One of those indoor venues was The Moon, where the live music kept cranking both Saturday and Sunday. Among the headliners was Tallahassee s own, Royce Lovett. A national star who couldn t wait to play to a hometown crowd. I m not going to lie! he grinned, while waiting backstage for his cue. I ve been waiting for a phone call from Word of South all the years it s been going down, so when I got it, I was excited.
