Meet the people walking barefoot in the name of health or for a better connection with Mother Nature

Kartika Dubey kicked off her shoes in February 2020 after moving to a village in the Palani Hills in southern India. Community Healing Project offers teens skills needed after high school

A Daytona Beach group is launching a new program this month aimed at giving teens skills to succeed after high school graduation.  Community Healing Project, a Daytona Beach nonprofit, will launch  Project G.O.L.D. on April 19, and is partnering with CareerSource Flagler Volusia, which works to place people in jobs.  “We want this program to give young kids a boost of knowledge so they don’t stumble like a lot of us did,” said Dyrell Johnson, who also is known as Rell Black and is director and founder of Community Healing Project. “The reason we named it that is because it’s a program to help develop students into young adults. Council makes no move on La Jornada, wants more input

.... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. The long-term fate of the city’s Juan de Oñate sculpture is still up in the air after the final Albuquerque City Council meeting of 2020. The council opted Monday not to act on a recommendation that would have permanently changed the La Jornada installation on the Albuquerque Museum grounds. The public artwork had included an Oñate sculpture, but the city temporarily removed the conquistador figure in June after a protest over it turned violent. The recommendation before the council is that the city not return the Oñate piece and that it re-imagine or “re-contextualize” the larger installation.
