Onalaska high schooler starts clothing drive for sexual assault survivors February 18, 2021 10:57 PM Molly Ringberg Updated: Jessica Randall learned that when survivors report an assault their clothes are sometimes taken into evidence. Then, in some cases, they are sent home wearing paper scrubs and disposable underwear. This really upset Randall, so she decided she was going to do something about it. She’s collecting clothes through the entire month of February and then dropping them off at Mayo and Gundersen Health Systems. Randall said living in our community, she knows a lot of people will get behind this cause. “People have rallied together before to support a cause. I’m trusting the community that everyone will come together and help, because this something important, and it’s important to realize it can happen to any of us and we don’t have control over it,” Randall said Thursday.

Flu season continues to be slow in Wisconsin, Minnesota Prevention measures for COVID-19 may be helping slow the influenza virus December 31, 2020 5:23 PM Greg White Updated: According to the CDC, Wisconsin and Minnesota are in the lowest of 13 categories for flu activity. Nationally, the flu levels are lower than usual with national cases at level similar to the end of the flu season. In our area, both Mayo Clinic and Gundersen Health Systems have not seen flu yet this year. Usually, the end of the year is the beginning of flu season. But the changes many are making for the pandemic are helping more that just stopping the spread of COVID-19.

DRIFTLESS - Over the past week COVID-19, diagnoses statewide increased from 438,895 on Monday, Dec. 14 to 458,612 on Monday, Dec. 21. That is a statewide increase of 19,717 cases. The number of deaths increased from 4,068 to 4,425, an additional 357 deaths, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. According to  News Channel 8, Gundersen Health System and Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse received their first allocation of COVID-19 vaccines Monday afternoon in LaCrosse.
