Photo Courtesy: Emily Jean Photography ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) – Emergency responders took one person to the hospital after an Onalaska apartment building caught on fire late Saturday night. The City of Onalaska Fire Department responded to a fire shortly after 11 p.m in a 16-unit apartment complex on Pinecrest Lane with reports of smoke coming from one of the apartments. Fire crews reported heavy smoke conditions and several residents still inside the building. Crews evacuated all of the residents and contained the fire to the original apartment. One resident was taken to the hospital with injuries from the fire. The building suffered moderate smoke and water damage. The cause of the fire is still under inves

(WKBT) Two dogs perished in a house fire reported shortly after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Onalaska Fire Department. Onalaska firefighters responded to a report of smoke coming from a neighbor’s house in the 400 block of Fifth Avenue North, according to a department news release. Smoke was coming from the eaves, and windows were charred and cracking, the report says. Onalaska firefighters forced open to front door to extinguish flames on the inside, while other firefighters from Onalaska and Holmen deployed to pull ceilings and check whether the fire had spread.
