But not every kid gets an opportunity to take part. Some, particularly those with special needs, are forced to abstain from the festivities when their needs can’t be met. But a new Pueblo event is working to change that. On Saturday, First Presbyterian Pueblo and Access Worship hosted their first all-abilities Easter Egg Hunt at the Pueblo County Courthouse. The event featured hundreds of kids and their families socially distanced and wearing masks, per county COVID-19 guidelines hunting for more than 1,000 colored eggs, with special accommodations made for those unable to participate in a traditional hunt. For kids with visual impairments, for instance, who might not be able to locate eggs by sight alone, the hunt featured 50 eggs built by the Pueblo Metro Bomb Squad to be pinpointed by sound.
