Alongside her university studies, she was also an exercise rider for trainer Robert Stephens. She completed the British Horse Racing Graduate Development Programme in 2016, undertaking her work placement at the BHA. Prior to commencing Godolphin Flying Start, she spent three years working at the BHA, where she was first based in the Communications and Corporate Affairs department, as Plus 10 Executive, and later as a Project Officer working across the Equine Health and Welfare, Anti-doping and Integrity and Regulation departments.

The seminar, normally a one-day in-person conference, went virtual because of Covid-19. The program was instead divided into three free weekly webinars beginning the first Monday in February. Each virtual seminar evening features two speakers that Rutgers has considered its “Best of the Best” over the years of having face-to-face Horse Management Seminars, and are topics that are most requested in previous post-program evaluations. Each evening will focus on one topic area and will end with an ‘Ask the Expert Live’ panel with Dr Carey Williams and the evening’s speakers.

Cooperative Extension concludes Horse Health series By Katie Carter NC Cooperative Extension The final presentation of the Horse Health Series was held on Jan. 27 with speaker Amanda Grev, forage specialist from the University of Maryland. Lameness is a major concern for horse owners. Once a horse becomes lame, what are the next steps that need to be taken on the road to recovery? To help horse owners better understand how to properly care for their horses, a few local NC Cooperative Extension agents have organized a horse health series. The third presentation, which discussed lameness in horses, was done on Jan. 20 by Carrie Jacobs, DVM, DAVS-LA, assistant clinical professor of Equine Orthopedic Surgery. The following information is adapted from Dr. Jacobs’s presentation.

Each virtual seminar evening will feature two speakers that Rutgers has considered its “Best of the Best” over the years of having face-to-face Horse Management Seminars, and are topics that are most requested in previous post-program evaluations. Each evening will focus on one topic area and will end with an ‘Ask the Expert Live’ panel with Dr Carey Williams and the evening’s speakers. The Monday night seminars start on February 1, and will run from 6:30 to 8:30pm (EST). All are free.
