Well, me. I am not objecting to campaigns dedicated to charities or important causes, like International Women’s Day, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Book Week Scotland and the like. But National Popcorn Day? Come on. Squirrel Appreciation Day - really? Does the planet absolutely have to have a World Nutella Day? Most of the really daft ones, of course, are dreamt up by marketing firms flogging a particular product or attention-seeking so-called influencers. (World Nutella Day, if you are interested, was started in 2007 by an American blogger and now, on February 5, people all over the world celebrate it by sharing their recipes and pictures on social media.)

The weather in January is usually colder, with plenty of snow and rain in many areas of the Northern Hemisphere. By this time in the new year, many people have already given up on their New Year s Resolutions, the glow from the December holidays has now faded, and the bills from all those presents have finally come in.
There aren t any serious, scientific studies that say Blue Monday is a real thing, but it s widely accepted in pop culture. Mostly because many people really do feel extra blue after the Christmas cheer is gone. Even the man who came up with the idea says he s shocked at how popular the idea has become. What Is Blue Monday? Experts Reveal Best Cure For Saddest Day Of 2021
KEY POINTS Blue Monday falls on the third Monday of January every year
The concept was coined by a psychologist in 2004 for a British travel company that wanted to promote their winter deals
Exercise, meditation, a new hobby and more can help improve one s mood
The third Monday of January each year has been dubbed Blue Monday and is said to be the saddest day on the calendar.
This is believed to be the day when it dawns on everyone that the holidays are over, a whole new year is ahead and all the bills spent during Christmas are catching up. All these, along with loneliness and the realization that one s New Year s resolutions have already failed, apparently contribute to what is now known as the most depressing day of the year.

Every year, the third Monday of January is dubbed “Blue Monday”.
The theory goes that this is the time of year when we’re all cold, broke and riddled with guilt that our new year’s resolutions to get fit, drink less alcohol, and be a better human being have fallen by the wayside.
And of course in 2021, we re dealing with yet another lockdown on top of the annual January difficulties.
But is Blue Monday really the most depressing day of the year, as it’s often called, or is the label just a misguided PR stunt?
