Senator McGrath, who was instrumental in the leadership coups that saw off both Tony Abbott and Malcolm Turnbull, beat Senator Stoker, the assistant Attorney-General, Assistant Minister for Industrial Relations and Assistant Minister for Women, by 212 votes to 101 votes with three informal votes.
