(ABC News) Just before 11pm on a Tuesday night, half a dozen police teams gather for a briefing in a retail car park on Townsville s south-western fringe. There s probably about three distinct hot spots, explains Senior Sergeant Jason Brosnan. The name of the game tonight is find them, identify them, photograph, video them, turn them over and send them home. This is Operation Swordfish involving the deployment of up to five extra crews in an attempt to clear Townsville s streets of kids late at night.

A Department of Transport and Main Roads spokesman provided an update, saying funding had been allocated to both Hamilton Plains and Shute Harbour Rd. He said $37 million had been allocated under the Roads of Strategic Important package, with $29.6 million contributed by the Federal Government and $7.4 million from the State Government. The spokesman explained the funds had been earmarked for a flood mitigation project at Hamilton Plains and an upgrade to a section of Shute Harbour Rd, near Cannonvale. The Hamilton Plains project is due to start detailed design in mid-2021, the spokesman said. The project is set to be delivered in the 2022-23 to 2023-24 financial years.

Six days before expectant parents Sarah and Peter Milosevic were due to welcome their unborn daughter Sophie into the world a drugged up and drunk driver ploughed into their family car. Instead of bringing baby Sophie home to her already prepared nursery, Sarah lay in a hospital bed with a broken back clutching her dead daughter in her arms while Peter watched on with a broken neck. Sophie s death on that fateful day on August 29, 2014 was not recognised as murder or manslaughter or in any charge that ended in occasioning death ; instead she was listed as one of the many massive injuries Sarah suffered.
