Mugshot emerges of battered Townsville MP

Premium Content Subscriber only A MUGSHOT showing a bruised Les Walker has emerged as the first-term state politician remains vague about what led up to a violent biff at a Townsville bar. The Mundingburra MP fronted a media pack on Friday, almost a week after he was knocked out at the Mad Cow Tavern, maintaining that he cannot remember the events of that night. Mr Walker was taken to hospital shortly after 1am on Saturday, January 16 after he was knocked unconscious in the party venue while celebrating his birthday. Earlier this week, Mr Walker was fined $800, issued with an infringement notice for public nuisance and banned from the city s Safe Night Precinct.

New details emerge after MP knocked out in club

A photo sent in to the Townsville Bulletin shows what is believed to be Mr Walker sitting by a police van on Flinders St and speaking with officers on the night of the incident. The photo was sent in after doing the rounds on social media. Les Walker sits with police officers at Flinders St on Saturday morning after being knocked out. Mr Walker celebrated his 56th birthday on Friday. Mr Walker was rushed to hospital about 1am, but was released a few hours later. The Bulletin called Mr Walker on Saturday, but he declined to comment, with his office issuing a statement the next day saying it would be inappropriate to comment on the open investigation.
