Delays of more than 30 minutes are to be expected on the Bruce Highway between the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane, in both directions.
As holiday makers scramble to be with loved ones on Christmas Day, motorists have felt the pain of congestion throughout the southeast.
As of 11.30am, it took motorists an hour and a half from north Brisbane to Maroochydore – a trip that normally takes 50 minutes.
In the other direction, it took motorists an hour and 40 minutes.
According to Queensland Traffic’s website, the heaviest of the congestion was around the Caloundra Rd exit and between Morayfield and Elimbah.

2.55pm: A man in his 30s was lucky to escape serious injury when the truck he was driving rolled on Mount Larcom Road at Yarwun on Tuesday.

The semi-trailer still sits on its roof on the northern side of the road with its white cab crumpled and trailer still attached.
The incident happened about 100 metres before the speed limit reduces from 100kmh to 80kmh approaching Rio Tinto Yarwun.

UPDATE – 18 December 2020: VicRoads has returned WEPN number plates back to owner Peter Hansen following public backlash.
