In a poll conducted on the sidelines of a recent symposium on shareholder management, two-thirds of 61 participating India Inc executives batted for virtual AGMs.

US private equity Advent International has pared its holding further in Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals. According to bulk deal data, Advent-owned Amalfiaco sold 6.06 per cent stake in CG Consumer in two equal tranches at Rs 392 per share and Rs 393 per share. This resulted in raising of Rs 1,492 crore from the transaction. Alongside, Societe Generale has picked up 0.62 per cent stake for Rs 153 crore. Meanwhile, identity of other buyers could not be ascertained. Investment banker said mutual funds and foreign portfolio investors were also among the buyers. Today, shares of CG Consumer ended at Rs 407 per share on BSE, down 0.45 percent from previous close.

Customs duty hike is imposed only on components used in LED light manufacturing and not on fully imported LED lighting.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced in Budget 2021 that there will be a rise in customs duty for importing LED light components like LED driver or MCPCB (metal core printed circuit board) from 5 percent to 10 percent. This announcement was to encourage domestic manufacturing for lighting solutions.
However, LED makers are upset with this move since this duty hike would automatically lead to a rise in prices of bulbs by 5-7 percent.
