Police officer sacked after assaulting colleague in Croydon

A Met police officer has been sacked and ordered to wear a electronic tag after assaulting a colleague while off-duty in Croydon. PC Melissa Sanchez Marulanda, 29, was found to have breached the standards of professional behaviour in respect of ‘discreditable conduct’ following a hearing on Tuesday (May 18). Police attended an address in Croydon on July 8 after receiving a silent emergency call. On arrival they met former PC Sanchez Marulanda – who was off duty - and two other people. An officer explained that they needed to enter the address to ensure the welfare of those who were there but former PC Sanchez Marulanda refused.

Jailed: Paedophile shared films of abused girls with wife

A paedophile who filmed himself sexually abusing young girls before sharing the videos with his wife has been jailed for 18 years. Dean Edmunds, 32, and Leanne Edmunds, 36, dubbed themselves “perverts together forever” as they exchanged messages about the attacks, Croydon Crown Court heard. Edmunds, who worked in the construction industry after training to become a Royal Marine, began abusing children when he was in his early 20s, said prosecutor Claire Harden-Frost. He made a total of 147 pictures and videos of four victims, all girls aged under 13, and shared at least six of them with his wife, who he also filmed having sex with a dog.

Police had attended an address in Croydon on 8 July after receiving a silent emergency call. On their arrival they met former PC Sanchez Marulanda – who was off duty - and two other people. An officer explained that they needed to enter the address to ensure the welfare of those who were there but former PC Sanchez Marulanda refused. The officers attempted to enter but were pushed and former PC Sanchez Marulanda struck one of them in the face on two occasions.

MIL-OSI Security: Man who raped and threatened to kill woman jailed

A man who raped, assaulted and threatened to kill a woman in Sutton has been jailed. Russell Stowell, 41, (2.3.80), of Rivers Gardens, SM5 was sentenced to a total of 11 years’ imprisonment, with an extended license of four years, at Croydon Crown Court on Thursday, 13 May as follows: One count of rape – five years concurrent One count of grievous bodily harm with intent – 11 years One count of wounding with intent – seven years concurrent One count of making threats to kill – two years concurrent Stowell pleaded not guilty to all charges against him. However, on 17 December 2020, following a trial at Croydon Crown Court, he was found guilty on all counts as above.
