Councils adapt Philip mourning plans to comply with social distancing
Social distancing and purdah requirements have added complexity to councils’ operations to lead the local mourning for the Duke of Edinburgh, who died today.
While councils are all believed to have had long-standing plans prepared in advance on how to respond to Prince Philip’s death, many had modified them prior to today in light of the pandemic.
And with the 99-year-old consort’s death occurring during the pre-election purdah period, all council communications have to conform to strict political impartiality rules, with many press releases quoting mayors, chairs, lord lieutenants and chief executives instead of council leaders.

It’s a sad day for the motorsports world as THE voice of Formula 1, Murray Walker, has died at the age of 97.
Walker began his broadcasting career in 1948, just after he served as a captain in World War II. First focusing on motorcycles, Walker raced motorcycles and commentated on races as he soon expanded his commentary portfolio to call a wide variety of racing disciplines. Lucky is the word: my work has taken me round the world umpteen times to countries I would never otherwise have visited, and I have rubbed shoulders with some outstanding people.

1995 – The MP4/10 shocks at the Science Museum
After a disappointing 1994 season in which McLaren finished fourth in the constructors championship, they replaced Peugeot power with Mercedes/Ilmor and exhibited their 1995 MP4/10 challenger at London’s Science Museum, on February 17.
This outlandish and incongruous design stunned onlookers with its pointed nose and cumbersome frame, seemingly huge engine cover and small wing attached on top.
