(Harrisburg, PA) Harrisburg City Council is going to be banning evictions to help home renters who may be struggling financially due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The council approved to create an emergency order on Friday. The emergency order will be suspending evictions for financial reasons for city residents by at least 30 days. The Action Day was issued yesterday because a strong temperature inversion is going to contribute to concentrations of fine particulate matter in the Code Orange range. Several southeastern and southcentral counties are going to be affected including Dauphin, Cumberland, Lancaster and York. Residents are being asked to help limit air pollution by not using gas-powered lawn or garden equipment and avoid burning leaves and trash in the open.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day for fine particulate matter for Monday in the southeastern counties of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia; the southcentral counties of Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, and York; and the Lehigh Valley-Berks Area which includes the counties of Berks, Lehigh, and Northampton.
A strong temperature inversion supported by snow cover, along with light winds associated with high pressure, are likely to contribute to daily average concentrations of fine particulate matter in the Code Orange range, according to a press release sent out Sunday afternoon.
