Grand Valley State continues to maintain its status as the No. 1 team for the second straight week.
Justin Scavarda picked up a pair of season best efforts in the throws. He is ranked No. 4 in the shot put (18.57m/60-11¼) and No. 5 in the discus (56.54m/185-6). The Lakers also gained two top-5 efforts in the steeplechase.
Caleb Futter is ranked No. 4 (8:51.30) and
Connor Schwartz is No. 5 (8:52.32).
Ashland soared three spots to come in at No. 2 this week.
Trevor Bassitt added another national leading performance to his resume, going 46.63 over 400. He also teamed up with
Brayden Chaney,
Keshun Jones and
Azusa Pacific moved up one spot and sits at No. 1, right ahead of now No. 2
West Texas A&M. The Bryan Clay Invitational treated the Cougars well, as the team saw new or improved national leading efforts in four events and three other marks that rank within the top-5 nationally. Amanda Fassold improved her national lead in the pole vault to 4.28m (14-½), with new No. 1s coming from
Jennifer Sandoval in the 10,000 (32:58.39),
Jaylah Walker in the 400H (58.16) and
Chinenye Agina in the high jump (1.77m/5-9¾).
Mechaela Hyacynth moved to No. 3 in the 200 (23.76), while the Cougars’ 4×100 (No. 2, 45.52) and 4×400 (No. 3, 3:44.51) also posted strong performances.
