Areas between Bradford County to Otsego County saw snowfall rates of
3 to 5 inches an hour, totaling over 30 inches so far. Those areas are on track to break the all-time 2-day snow total record at the Binghamton airport.

Tractor Trailer Ban, Speed Restrictions on New York State Thruway
There s tractor trailer bans and speed restrictions on the New York State Thruway after Winter Storm Gail dumped anywhere from one to 3 feet of snow across the state.
All empty tractor trailers and tandem vehicles are banned from the Thruway (I-87) south of exit 24 (Albany) to New York City (including the Berkshire Spur, Garden State Parkway extension, New England Thruway and the Cross Westchester Expressway) until further notice.
Speed restrictions of 45mph are effect from I-90 at exit 36 (I-81 - Syracuse) to NYC line. If you must travel today, use extreme caution, urges the Thruway Authority. Plows have been doing continuous loops and will keep going until after the storm.

To support snow and ice activities in critical areas, a total of 180 additional upstate staff, including: 164 plow truck operators, 8 equipment operator instructors, and 8 mechanics; and 4 mechanic service trucks are being deployed. They are distributed as follows:

The Mid-Hudson Region will be receiving 67 plow operators, 4 equipment operator instructors, 2 mechanics and 1 mechanic service truck

Long Island will be receiving 85 plow operators, 2 equipment operator instructors, 4 mechanics, 2 mechanic service trucks
