US investors banned from investing in 59 Chinese companies Jun 4, 2021 – 9.32am Save Share The United States has expanded its ban on US investment in Chinese companies that it says threaten security and human rights, adding 11 firms to a blacklist announced by former president Donald Trump last year. President Joe Biden said threats to security and human rights by some Chinese companies were a “national emergency”, and specifically added human rights threats to Mr Trump’s initial order. Joe Biden’s extension brings the total number of Chinese companies for which Americans are not allowed to invest in to 59.  “I have determined that additional steps are necessary to address the national emergency,” Mr Biden said.
