Lee County students eligible to get free breakfast and lunch this year

TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - All students in the Lee County School District are eligible to receive free lunch and breakfast this upcoming school year, school leaders announced Thursday.
WTVA reporter Alexis Jones spoke with several people who’ll benefit from the decision.

Parents have to fill out a free and reduce meal application.
Administrators said if parents fill out the application, they will get many other benefits.

Jan 29, 2021 9:43 AM DeLand, FL - Volusia County Schools officials are urging parents to complete the Free/Reduced Meal Application soon, as the deadline is just two weeks away, on February 12th. Fewer families have completed the application this year which could negatively affect funding for the 44 Title 1 schools in Volusia County. Title 1 means the schools have a high poverty ranking, which qualifies them for federal funds. Officials say even if you re not sure your family qualifies for access to free/reduced-price meals, you should complete an application. The application is available in English and Spanish and should only take a few minutes to complete online. The application can be found at vcsedu.org. PCSD 25 to continue offering free breakfast, lunch through end of this school year
Des Moines Public Schools
POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) – Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25 Food Service was approved for a USDA waiver allowing all students enrolled in the district to receive free breakfast and lunch. This waiver has been extended and learners will be allowed to receive free meals through the end of the 2020-2021 school year.
To date, PCSD 25 and its food service team have served nearly 1 million free meals since March 2020.
Free breakfasts and lunches must be complete, reimbursable meals, containing the required dietary components.
Secondary schools will continue to offer à la carte items on a limited basis. These items are NOT free, and may be paid for by depositing money on the learners’ accounts.
