SunStar (File) May 06, 2021 PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the Philippine National Police (PNP) to arrest and detain individuals who fail to wear or properly wear face masks in public. Duterte said this safety measure against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) should be enforced strictly to curb transmission. Covid-19 cases have started to decline, but new infections still average nearly 8,000 a day. The President noted that a lot of people wear their face masks with the nose exposed. He said the police have nine hours to hold a person without charges and investigate. “Pagka ganoon, tapos ako dito hirap na hirap, papawala na yong pera natin sa bangko, tapos sige pa rin kayo galaw nang galaw diyan na hindi tama, eh mapupunta talaga kayo sa istasyon,” he warned.

DOH, NTF expand efforts to reduce COVID-19 cases, decongest hospitals
