Police ID 7-year-old shooting victim in Phipps Plaza

The Atlanta Police Department has identified the 7-year old girl who was critically wounded in a shooting on Monday as Kennedy Maxie, who is currently fighting for her life at Scottish Rite Hospital. Incoming Cobb County School Board member Tre Hutchins said that Maxie is a student at Sedalia Park Elementary School in Marietta. Maxie was struck in the head by a bullet during an altercation at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead. Police say the girl was riding in a car with her aunt past the mall when the aunt heard several gunshots, one of which hit Maxie. Maxie was rushed to Scottish Rite Hospital in Sandy Springs where she remains in critical condition, police said.

The Atlanta Police Department is investigating a shooting in Buckhead that led to a 7-year-old girl being hospitalized. According to a preliminary news release, Dec. 21 at about 9 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call from Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite in Sandy Springs about a child being shot. At the hospital, investigators spoke to the victim’s aunt, who said she was driving the girl and her mother by Phipps Plaza mall, located at 3500 Peachtree Road, when she heard several gunshots. The police later identified the girl as Kennedy Maxie.

Police: 1 teen killed, 2 injured in Powder Springs shooting By FOX 5 Digital Team Published  Officers with the Powder Springs Police Department were called to Hopkins Court at around 5:45 p.m. When they got to the scene, officers found three teens with gunshot wounds. Medics rushed the three boys to local hospitals. Officials say one teen did not survive his wounds. The other two are being treated for injuries. Their condition is not known at this time.
