Plans have been announced for the return of one of the most popular events in Greenville each summer.
After having been curtailed last year due to COVID-19, the Greenville Police Department and Greenville Citizens Police Academy Alumni have scheduled this yearâs Summer of Safety programs will begin with the free 24th Annual Officer David Dickson Memorial Fishing Friday.
This yearâs event is set for Graham Park, 800 Walnut Street between 9 a.m. and noon June 4.
âThe police department will supply all of the bait and fishing equipment and will also be serving a free hotdog lunch,â said Officer James Hamilton, who oversees Crime Prevention and Community Programs with the police department. âKids will get to fish with police officers, sheriff deputies, state troopers, constables, game wardens, firefighters, and paramedics. There will also be prizes for the biggest fish caught, the most fish caught, and the most unique catch.â

The man, who is in his twenties and living the Roxboro area, reported to gardai that he accepted a friend request from an unknown female on Facebook.
After a number of messages back and forth, the young man forwarded a compromising image of himself to this woman s account.
Immediately the woman that she would circulate his image on social media if he did not forward money to an account and she provided details.
Increase in traffic volumes expected in vicinity of Ennis and Meelick vaccination clinics

AN increase in traffic volumes in the vicinity of both the Ennis and Meelick Centres is expected over the coming weeks. People attending for their vaccination are advised that they should only attend within five or 10 minutes of their appointment time.
Gardaí have advised that at the Ennis Centre, once the numbers attending increase there will be no right turns into the hotel site. People coming from the Ennis side will need to continue past the hotel to the next roundabout and then enter the site with a left hand turn.
