Centre gives ED access to crime database | India News

Representative image NEW DELHI: The Union home ministry has given the Enforcement Directorate (ED) access to the search tool of Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) and Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS). While CCTNS is an integrated database of crime records of police stations across the country, ICJS enables seamless transfer of data and information among different pillars of criminal justice system like courts, police, prisons, forensic laboratories, from one platform. CCTNS has already been integrated with ICJS. “Access of ICJS/CCTNS search was provided to Enforcement Directorate (ED) on their request. Administrative user has been created for ED to create further users for their field officers to access ICJS/CCTNS search,” the home ministry said in a document listing its major achievements for November 2020.

National database to help verify staff antecedents may be rolled out this month

A portal being developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) will enable users to register and request bulk antecedent verification with an online payment. “The system will match the given details of persons, such as name, age, state, district and police station of his current and permanent address.

It also showed that a total of 6261 FIR reports were filed from 2013 to 2018 while 1227 and 541 FIRs were registered in the years 2018 and 2019 alone. The reports released show data records as of October 31, 2020. It was further disclosed from the reports that all 65 Police Stations in the state have implemented CCTNS and the technology is largely operational in state, although the capacity building factor under manpower stands only at 72.1 %, making Nagaland the second least state in capacity building. Image Source: IANS News New Delhi, Dec 15 : More than 95 per cent of the total 16,098 police stations across the country have been using the software facility Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), a mission mode modernisation project under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Connectivity is available at 97 per cent of the police stations and 93 per cent of them are entering 100 per cent FIRs through the project.
