SINGAPORE: Using forged bank statements, fake companies and by bribing bank workers, a woman conspired with a man to cheat three banks into disbursing S$1.77 million in loans.
Tan You Jia, 50, was given four-and-a-half years jail on Wednesday (Mar 3), after pleading guilty to six charges of bribery and cheating involving S$718,000. Another 13 charges were taken into consideration, with S$2.5 million involved across all the charges.

SINGAPORE: The Ministry of Law (MinLaw) is launching a number of programmes to widen access to justice for all Singaporeans, said Second Minister for Law Edwin Tong on Tuesday (Mar 2).
“There have been observations that the COVID-19 pandemic has worsened what some might term the ‘justice gap’,” said Mr Tong during the Committee of Supply debate.

SINGAPORE: After suspecting that his girlfriend was lying to him about her job and thinking she had cheated him of the money he spent on her, a man stabbed his hostess girlfriend before biting off her earlobe.
China national Chen Jianhua, 32, was sentenced on Tuesday (Feb 23) to five-and-a-half years jail after pleading guilty to three charges of attempted culpable homicide not amounting to murder, criminal intimidation and trespass to commit theft. A fourth charge of stealing the victim s items was taken into consideration.
