Woman hurt by gunfire in Edwardsville

EDWARDSVILLE One person was injured by gunfire Thursday night in Edwardsville.
Illinois State Police report that, at about 7:08 p.m. Thursday, troopers responded to a shooting at the bottom of the ramp from Illinois 255 northbound at New Poag Road. State police said a female victim was airlifted to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries sustained from a gunshot wound while she was in her vehicle.
Police did not release any other information on the victim.
According to state police, the suspect vehicle in the incident is unidentified. The Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 6 is continuing the investigation.
CHICAGO (WLS) A police chase that began on Chicago s South Side led to a carjacking and ended in two separate crashes Wednesday afternoon.
According to Illinois State Police, Norfolk Southern Railroad police officers said they began to pursue a Dodge pickup truck on southbound I-94 near 79th Street that was wanted in connection to a previous incident.
During the pursuit, state police said a minivan became involved in the incident and crashed at a gas station on Sibley west of I-94 in south suburban Dolton.
State police said the drive and sole occupant of the minivan fled on foot after the crash and allegedly carjacked a Jeep on the northbound ramp from I-94 to westbound Sibley Avenue. The abandoned Jeep was recovered later by the Chicago Police Department.
