A warrant is out for NFL pass rusher Aldon Smith’s arrest on a second-degree battery charge in the New Orleans suburb of St. Bernard.
St. Bernard sheriff deputies responded to a call for medical assistance around 7:30 p.m. Saturday night, the sheriff’s office confirmed in a statement. A male victim said he was “assaulted by an acquaintance of his earlier while outside a business.” Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau identified Smith as a suspect in their investigation and issued an arrest warrant, sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Smith’s agent, Ron Slavin, declined comment when reached Monday by USA TODAY Sports.

Beginning in early March to date, deputies have responded to 14 calls for service involving groups of teens using paintball guns to shoot at each other, as well as at citizens, vehicles, residences and traffic signs, officials with the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff s Office said. Individuals can face various felony charges if caught illegally discharging a paintball gun at an individual or property, including aggravated battery and aggravated criminal damage to property, as well as a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief.
