Police suspect beggars in Karachi might be kidnapping children

KARACHI: Police have arrested several beggars from the streets of Karachi and have raised suspicions that children accompanying them might not be their own and could have been kidnapped.
To verify the suspicion, the police is planning to carry out DNA tests of the children and the arrested adult beggars.
According to an article by
Geo News, the police, in collaboration with 10 agencies, have initiated a joint investigation to launch a crackdown on the beggar mafia in the city.
Karachi police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon told the outlet that some important decisions have been taken in this regard.

Sindh AIG Ghulam Nabi Memon constituted a special investigation team on Thursday to probe the murder of Zain Effendi, descendant of the Sindh Madrassahtul Islam University’s founder Hassanally Effendi, a day prior. A case was also lodged against unidentified suspects on the complaint of the deceased’s wife.
East SSP Sajid Sadozai is to lead the investigation team, which comprises of Jamshed Division SP Farooq Bajarani, Darakshan SDPO Zahid Hussain, Ferozabad SHO Aurangzaib Khattak, Jamshed Quarters SHO Chaudhry Zahid Hussain and Jamshed Quarters SIO Imtiaz Ahmed.
Chief Secretary Sindh reviews security, arrangements for by-elections
Karachi, January 07, 2021 (PPI-OT): An important meeting was held at Sindh Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Sindh Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah here on Thursday. The meeting reviewed security and other administrative arrangements for the by-elections to be held in Umerkot, Malir, Sanghar and Tharparkar from 18th January to 21st February 2021.
The meeting also discussed matter of encroachment at lands of KCR and government agencies in the province. The meeting was attended by the Provincial Election Commissioner Aijaz Anwar Chohan, Senior Member Board of Revenue Qazi Shahid Pervaiz, All administrative Secretaries, All Divisional Commissioners, AIG Karachi Ghulam Nabi Memon, Administrator KMC and all Deputy Commissioners of Sindh.

KARACHI: Zain Ali Effendi, grandson of Hassan Ali Effendi, the illustrious academician from Sindh who spearheaded the cause of education among the Muslims of Sindh and the founder of Sindh Madressatul Islam School during the British Raj, was killed while resisting a robbery in Karachi.
The tragic incident took place on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday at a house located near Peoples Chowrangi, close to Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum within the jurisdiction of Jamshed Quarters police station where a group of armed robbers barged into the house and killed Zain Ali Effendi when he resisted robbery. According to police, the robbers escaped along with the looted valuables from the house.
