A MAN was punched and kicked outside Wetherspoons in an argument over an alleged £50 debt.
Swindon Crown Court heard that Thomas Dymond, 23, had been drinking at The Bridge House pub, Chippenham, on December 14, 2018, when he saw an old acquaintance and followed him outside to the Borough Parade car park. The men had gone to school together and, some years earlier, had been on a night out when Dymond apparently lent the other £50. They had not seen each other for two years. Prosecutor Lucy Taylor said Dymond approached the man and asked for the money back. He grabbed onto his jacket and a scuffle ensured – initially good natured, but which became more violent.

ANCIENT woods near Bradford on Avon are to be improved for nature and people to enjoy in years to come. Bradford on Avon Town Council has been awarded a £2,480 grant by Cotswold National Landscape under the Caring for Cotswold scheme. It will enable the council and volunteers to make improvements to Becky Addy Wood overlooking the River Avon and the Kennet & Avon Canal near Avoncliff. The council purchased the wood last year with help from the Friends of Becky Addy Wood group (FROBAW) as part of a community project to help protect it. The wood is one of the few remaining ancient woodlands in the area and a refuge for many rare and protected species.
