Authorities said DNA evidence connected him to the crime.
The defendant, Montelle J. Brown, 28, was held for court on charges including first-degree felony counts of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and burglary in the attack on the female student in her dorm room in Ravine-Narvik Hall on the Allegheny campus on Dec. 10, 2019.
Meadville police accuse Brown of raping and sexually assaulting the victim at gunpoint.
The attack remained unsolved for more than a year until authorities announced in February that DNA evidence collected in the rape investigation matched Brown s DNA.
Crawford County District Attorney Francis Schultz said in announcing the filing of charges against Brown that, at the time forensic evidence was initially tested in the rape case, Brown s DNA was not in the Combined DNA Index System database.
WILLIAMSTOWN â Itâs oddly reassuring to find evidence that humans arenât alone in suffering the effects of cabin fever.
The subtle attractions of a quiet, balmy night in early spring proved to be irresistible for a trio of local cows earlier this month.
Warm(er) weather residents of the Haley Farm on Cold Spring Road in Williamstown â they over-winter with about 20 Haley herd-mates at another farm in âthe Hopperâ off Green River Road, a few miles east of their summer resort â the three young cows seemed reluctant to settle in their stalls on the evening of April 1.
Richard Haley, whose family has operated the farm for six generations, speculated that a touch of spring fever had infected the cows, but on April 1, he was more concerned with effects, not causes, when his telephone rang at about 9:30 p.m.
Now s your chance.
A virtual public involvement meeting is taking place through May 20 to provide people with a chance to comment about the project that will put a paved, multi-use recreational trail through the heart of Greenfield.
The first phase of the project, scheduled to be constructed in summer 2022, will connect to the Oak Leaf Trail at West Cold Spring Road and stretch east 3 miles to 60th Street.
The input session is being held virtually due to the pandemic, said Greenfield City Engineer Jeff Katz.
He said project organizers will take feedback into consideration and respond to questions.
