Centre announced the Winter Session of Parliament has been called off due to the COVID-19 crisis. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi has said in a reply to Congress leader of Opposition, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury that the Parliament will now convene in January 2021 for the Budget session ahead of the Budget announcement on February 1.
The winter session of Parliament will not be held this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the Budget session will be convened in January 2021, the government has conveyed to the opposition, a move slammed by the Congress as the decimation of parliamentary democracy . In a letter to leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said, Winter months are very crucial for managing the pandemic because of recent spurt in cases during this period, particularly in Delhi. At present, we are in the middle of December and a covid vaccine is expected very soon.

The government has said there will be no Winter Session of Parliament this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Parliament will meet for the Budget Session in January next year. This was confirmed by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi in his reply to Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had earlier sent a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla demanding that a short Winter Session of Parliament be convened to discuss the issues arising out of farmers protest over the three farm bills passed during the Monsoon Session in September.

The Winter Session of Parliament will not be held this year due to the coronavirus crisis. The information was given by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi on Monday. He added that after discussions with the leaders from several parties, a general opinion was formed that the session should not be called this year. No one was in favour of the Winter Session due to coronavirus infection. After this, it has been decided that the budget session will be called directly in January. It may be noted that the budget session started from January 31 last year, while in 2018, the budget session started from January 28.

New Delhi: The government on Tuesday announced that the Winter Session of Parliament has been called off in view of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said Parliament will next meet in January for the Budget Session. Various political party leaders expressed their concerns about the pandemic and opined of doing away with the Winter Session. Appropriate to have Budget Session2021 in January, Joshi said in response to a letter by Congress s Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, seeking the convening of the Winter Session of Parliament.
