J. Thomas Savage, the director behind one of Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library s most successful exhibitions, is leaving the site to become the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation s director of educational travel and conferences.
Savage helped bring the Costumes of Downton Abbey to Winterthur, which has been the museum s highest-grossing and best-attended show.
His departure was announced to Winterthur s staff late Thursday.
Savage is an expert on British country houses and through the years coordinated and led specialized itineraries in England, Ireland and Scotland.
