A 52-year-old man was shot and killed by an officer Saturday night, prompting a Polk County Sheriffâs Office investigation, officials said.
The shooting happened in the Southeast area of Winter Haven just past 10 p.m. The man had a gun, according to the sheriffâs office.
It was not immediately clear whether the man was shot by a sheriffâs deputy or a Winter Haven Police Department officer. No officers were injured.

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - A Polk County man was arrested after he was spotted in Winter Haven, on an overpass, carrying what appeared to be a rifle, but it turned out to be a pellet gun, police said.
Winter Haven police said witnesses saw a man walking along the overpass on Highway 17. On Wednesday, officers arrived around 3:10 p.m. after receiving reports of the individual pointing the possible weapon in the air and in different directions.

AUBERNDALE, Fla. - A Florida woman was arrested after police say she test drove a car and didn t return it. An Auburndale woman tried the ole test drive a car and not return it trick, but technology spoiled those plans, The Winter Haven Police Department said.
The department says on Monday, 34-year-old Shonteria Story went to the Chevy Center located at 101 Cypress Gardens Blvd. under the ruse of purchasing a vehicle. Due to COVID restrictions, the dealership does not allow associated to ride with customers on test drives.
