Northwest s St Jude Up til Dawn hosts third annual Cut Loose event | News

In spite of COVID-19, Northwest’s St. Jude Up ’til Dawn held a hybrid version of its third annual Cut Loose fundraising event Feb. 18, altering the event from previous years. Members of the St. Jude Up ’til Dawn executive board, 28 hair donors and the donors’ sponsors joined a Zoom session where the donors got their hair cut. Participants then made their way to Bearcat Arena to get their hair touched up by professionals.  The hair collected from Cut Loose is sent to Children with Hair Loss in South Rockwood, Michigan, where the hair is processed and made into wigs for children and young adults with medically-related hair loss. In order to turn the hair into wigs, the hair must be at least eight inches in length.
