Research by Australian scientists could pave the way to a new treatment for a currently incurable brain cancer in children called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, or DIPG. Affecting about 20 children in Australia each year, DIPG is a devastating disease with an average survival time of just nine months after diagnosis.

MONROE – From one little Penny, came thousands of dollars for children with cancer.
On Tuesday former New York Giants star quarterback Eli Manning played the role of receiver, accepting $10,000 on behalf of Tackle Kids Cancer (TKC). A posthumous wish-granting at the Make-A-Wish New Jersey headquarters, the donation was in honor of 2 1/2-year-old Penelope Lindsay of Garfield.
Known as Penny, the bright and bubbly toddler was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma last summer after an emergency room visit for an unexplained swollen black eye. After a courageous eight-month battle, Penny lost her life to the childhood cancer in February. She was perfect, said Penny s parents, Cassandra Izquierdo and Jack Lindsay, in unison.
