No evidence uptake of AstraZeneca jab is slowing in UK, expert says

No evidence uptake of AstraZeneca jab is slowing in UK, expert says Sat, 3rd Apr 2021 10:59 (Alliance News) - There is no evidence uptake of the AstraZeneca PLC coronavirus vaccine is slowing in the UK despite some European countries pausing its rollout, a public health expert has said. Professor Linda Bauld of Edinburgh University said all studies indicated the jab was safe and effective, while the fact different countries were reviewing their position was a sign that the system was working. British regulators said they have identified 30 cases of rare blood clot events associated with the AstraZeneca vaccine but stressed the benefits of the jab in preventing coronavirus outweigh any risks.

UPDATE: World health experts meet to review safety of AstraZeneca jab

UPDATE: World health experts meet to review safety of AstraZeneca jab Tue, 16th Mar 2021 10:46 (Alliance News) - The World Health Organisation is urging countries to continue using AstraZeneca PLC s Covid-19 vaccine as global medical leaders meet to discuss reports of blood clots. WHO s global advisory committee on vaccine safety will hold a meeting on Tuesday, while the European Medicines Agency also will meet, with a view to publishing further guidance on Thursday. Soumya Swaminathan, WHO s chief scientist, told a media briefing we do not want people to panic , as she said no association has been found so far between blood clots and Covid-19 vaccines.
