Abuja, May 9, 2021 (NAN) The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, bagged the Gas Decade personality award by the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN), to mark the beginning of activities for the week at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
The award ceremony which took place in Abuja was in recognition of the Minister’s lead role in revolutionalising and opening up the country’s gas sector.
President of OGTAN, Dr Mayowa Afe, commended Sylva’s dedication and innovation towards the Federal Government’s Gas initiatives and policies.
“We are here to acknowledge what you have done for this country. You have brought sanity to the Petroleum Industry; you have also declared Nigeria, on behalf of the President, a gas-based Nation.”

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has kicked off construction work on the Port Harcourt Refinery rehabilitation project with a firm commitment not to fail Nigerians.
A statement issued yesterday by the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Dr. Kennie Obateru, quoted the NNPC Chief Operating Officer, Refineries and Petrochemicals, Mr. Mustapha Yakubu, as saying that everything was being done to ensure that the project was delivered hitch-free and on schedule.
Speaking at the Technical Kick-off Meeting for the project which held at the Port Harcourt Refinery Complex, Alesa Eleme, Rivers State, Yakubu said everything about the project had been carefully worked out to ensure that the target of at least 90 per cent refining capacity was achieved when operational.

Views: Visits 7 By Obas Esiedesa The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, on Friday reversed its decision to make zero contribution to the Federation Account Allocation Committee, in the month of May, due to high cost of petrol subsidy. The Corporation in a statement by its Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Dr. Kennie Obateru explained that the shortfall in remittance will be remedied. NNPC had in a letter to the Accountant General of the Federation warned that it would not make any remittance to the Federation Account Allocation Committee in the month of May after spending N111.966 billion to subsidize petrol consumption in March.
Abuja – The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) says that the Corporation is not in any financial straits as insinuated in the media.
Dr kennie Obateru, General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the corporation, disclosed this in a statement in Abuja on Friday
He said that the revenue projection contained in the letter to the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) being cited in the media was only to the Federation revenue stream being managed by the Corporation
Obateru said the projection was not a reflection of the overall financial performance of the Corporation.
“NNPC maintains that it is conscious of its role and is doing everything possible to shore up revenues and support the Federation at all times.
