GUANGZHOU, April 23 (Xinhua) Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng has called for steadily developing major cooperation platforms in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Han, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and head of the leading group for developing the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, made the remarks while presiding over a meeting of the group in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province, on Thursday.
Han described building the Greater Bay Area a strong measure to advance reform and opening-up and to help Hong Kong and Macao better integrate into China s overall development.

Attendees from Hong Kong and Macao at the annual meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) on Tuesday called for technological innovation to spur high-quality development of the city cluster in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
As one of the core cities in the Greater Bay Area, Hong Kong has strong basic scientific research capabilities and sound financial services, Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, said at a sub-forum of the annual meeting.

Matthew Cheung, chief secretary for administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government, encouraged young people on Monday to seize the opportunities in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Hong Kong young people can build a promising future in the Greater Bay Area as long as they take an open and active attitude, Cheung said at a ceremony of the Hong Kong Award for Young People.
The latest national Five-Year Plan has proposed favorable policies for Hong Kong and Macao young people to study, get employed and set up their own businesses in mainland cities of the Greater Bay Area, Cheung said.
