(Seguin) – In the midst of a historic winter storm, all eyes remained on efforts to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. That’s according to Patrick Pinder, the Guadalupe County emergency management officer. Pinder on Tuesday provided the Guadalupe County Commissioners Court with the latest breakdown on those efforts.
The first, of course, was on the hospitalizations of residents in the county specifically at Guadalupe Regional Medical Center.
“This hospital currently has 13 patients hospitalized for COVID. That number has gone down significantly over the last few weeks. It’s good news to see. Talking to them, they are not having as much issues over there. They have two people per day coming in for COVID and are admitted. That’s good news. That’s good to see. I’m thinking that the numbers since last week everybody stayed home with the winter weather, hopefully, that number will gone down and those hospital numbers

(Seguin) Guadalupe County is applauding a local non-profit organization for its around the clock assistance in helping to solve crime. The Guadalupe County Commissioners Court recently recognized the Guadalupe County Crime Stoppers Program for its continued efforts to creatively and effectively assist law enforcement in their investigation of crimes throughout the county.
This year’s recognition by the court, however, also included the honoring of the program’s chairman Ken Kiel. After leading the program for the last 10 years, Kiel has decided to step down from the Crime Stoppers board of directors.
Calling what he describes as “tough shoes to fill is new Board Chairman David Reiley. Reiley says thanks to Kiel, Crime Stoppers has not only proven successful on a local level but it has also garnered plenty of recognition across the state.

(Seguin) The Guadalupe County Commissioners Court on Tuesday got an update on COVID-19 numbers as part of its first meeting of 2021. Bryce Houlton, Guadalupe County Assistant Emergency Management Coordinator, provided a snapshot of the latest available data from the Texas Department of State Health Services. Houlton’s report looked at the latest data on case counts, hospitilizations and deaths here in Guadalupe County.
“We are still seven to nine days, on average, behind data-wise from the Department of State Health Services,” said Houlton. “Currently in the city of New Braunfels, we have four active cases, two in Cibolo, 12 in Seguin, zero in Schertz, zero in Marion, one in Selma and 18 in the unincorporated areas for a total of

(Seguin) The Guadalupe County Commissioners Court is also giving a bit of a shout out to the upcoming Guadalupe County Youth Livestock and Homemakers Show. County Judge Kyle Kutscher mentioned the youth show during the close of the court’s meeting on Tuesday. Kutscher says he’s thrilled to hear the the youth show will not be a COVID-19 casualty, and he says it’s good news for the kids that will be presenting their projects this year.
“Still go out and support those youth exhibitors. It’s one organization that really supports families from all over the county. There’s definitely a lot of benefit there. Some of these kids have been working on projects for 10, 11, or 12 months. So go out and support them any way you can,” said Kutscher.
