(Seguin) Guadalupe County continues to keep a close on the rising COVID-19 cases in the area. Patrick Pinder, the Guadalupe County emergency management coordinator assigned to the county’s COVID-19 response, shared the latest numbers during Tuesday’s meeting of the Guadalupe County Commissioners Court.
“We have 202 confirmed active cases in the county; 126 probable active cases in the county; 750 probable recovered cases in the county. We have 4, 714 people who have recovered. We have 47 deaths reported in Guadalupe County. We have 5,839 cases total reported in the county and we have 110 to be determined. GRMC notified me this morning (Tuesday) that they have 24 patients in the hospital. Last week, on Thursday, they had 18. (Monday), they had 28. COVID-19 strikes again.
The city of Seguin has canceled events and stopped taking reservations at city properties, according to a news statement Public Information Officer Jennifer Sourdellia released Friday.
Mayor Donna Dodgen made the decision which goes into effect Wednesday and extends through Feb. 1.
âPublic safety and what is best for our community drives my decision,â Dodgen said. âI want us all to be safe and healthy, so please take care of each other and be mindful of personal behaviors.â
The Seguin Events Complex has stop taking reservations for the coliseum and fairground facilities, the release read. Customers will receive full refunds for facility bookings impacted by the decision, it read.
Seven of the 18 COVID-19 patients being treated in Guadalupe Regional Medical Center were in its intensive care unit on Tuesday, hospital officials said Wednesday.
âThe numbers of COVID-19 patients at GRMC have been trending up since Thanksgiving and our emergency department has seen an increase presenting to be seen for flu- or COVID-like illness,â Public Information Officer Elizabeth McCown said in a statement.
The hospital s seven-day moving average of new virus admissions is three per day while the seven-day average for hospitalizations is 16, McCown said.
The hospital has activated an incident command center to assess and respond to issues related to the pandemic and opened an additional critical care unit for patients not afflicted with the virus.

(Seguin) GRMC has officially reactivated its command center to continually assess and respond to COVID-19 issues as they arise.
Officials at Guadalupe Regional Medical Center say the numbers of COVID-19 patients at GRMC have been trending up since Thanksgiving and its emergency department has seen an increase of patients presenting to be seen for flu or COVID like illness.
Currently, GRMC has 18 hospitalized COVID-19 patients. Seven of the 18 COVID-19 patients are in the ICU.
GRMC’s 7 day moving average of new COVID-19 admissions is three per day and the seven day moving average for COVID-19 hospitalizations is 16 per day. This information represents average numbers from GRMC alone. Last week, GRMC opened an additional critical care unit for non-COVID-19 patients.
