As a QED-C Founding Member, Aliro will contribute to three Technical Advisory Committees: Enabling Technologies, Use Cases, and Standards and Performance Metrics. Aliro has also added Don Towsley, a leading researcher in

Researchers achieve long-distance quantum teleportation

US Department of Energy Office national laboratory Fermilab and partner institutions have taken a significant step towards realising a quantum internet. Earlier this month, a joint team of researchers was able to use quantum teleportation to send information over a distance of 44km. In a paper published in PRX Quantum, the team said it demonstrated a “sustained, long-distance teleportation” of qubits of photons for the first time, with a fidelity of more than 90pc. The qubits were teleported over a fibre-optic network using state-of-the-art single-photon detectors and off-the-shelf equipment.

Quantum Teleportation Has Been Achieved In Real Life

Quantum Teleportation Has Been Achieved In Real Life ✖ Quantum teleportation over long distances has been achieved in real life. An announcement by a group of scientists from a consortium of well-regarded institutions confirms that a demonstration of sustained high-fidelity quantum teleportation has been achieved. The breakthrough was led by Caltech, a collaboration of Fermilab, AT&T, University of Calgary and Harvard University, and the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The group was successfully able to transport basic units of quantum information known as qubits over 22 kilometers of fiber between the Caltech and Fermilab Quantum Networks. While not the same as transporting physical matter across distances, this achievement could create Quantum Networks that revolutionize the future of computing speed, power, and security.
