The government’s mass vaccination clinic is administering only second COVID-19 vaccine doses this week, but eligible residents who want a first dose can ask their private health care provider.
The Department of Public Health and Social Services, which last Friday received the island’s doses for March, gave 1,440 of those doses to private providers, according to governor’s spokeswoman Krystal Paco-San Agustin.
Guam received a total of 35,260 doses for March, of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines.
Guam, by the end of February, had squeezed nearly 1,000 extra doses out of its vaccine allotment, according to the Joint Information Center. The Pfizer vaccine, after dilution, contains one extra dose per vial, the Joint Information Center stated, for a total of six doses instead of the five doses stated on the label.
