Two Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers detained under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma) and believed to be linked to the Nicky Gang organised crime syndicate, have filed a
habeas corpus application to seek for their immediate release.
The duo, aged 41 and 42, each filed the application through a notice of motion in the Kuala Lumpur High Court on May 5 through.

Govt appeals against court leave for legal challenge over KVDT2 rail project

The government is appealing to quash the court leave for contractor Dhaya Maju LTAT Sdn Bhd to commence legal challenge against its decision to terminate the contract of the Klang Valley Double Tracking 2 (KVDT2) rail project.
The two respondents in the legal action - the government and Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong - have gone to the Court of Appeal to set aside the leave granted by the Kuala Lumpur High Court on April 14 this year.

Maria Chin seeks civil court order to quash syariah contempt proceedings

Petaling Jaya MP Maria Chin Abdullah has gone to the civil court to quash contempt proceedings against her at the Syariah court.
The PKR lawmaker, through her legal team, filed the judicial review leave application at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on March 3 this year.
The three respondents named in the legal action are Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.

PUTRAJAYA (May 3): The Court of Appeal today reduced damages which Sistem Televisyen Malaysia Bhd (TV3) and the then Media Prima Bhd and Current Affairs Radio and Television group managing director Datuk Shaharudin Abdul Latif have to pay to opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for defamation.
From an amount of RM1.1 million for aggravated and exemplary damages ordered by the High Court, the three-member bench allowed TV3 and Shaharudin s appeal to reduce the quantum to a global sum of RM600,000.
The award is over the television station s defamatory report which accused the PKR president and Port Dickson member of Parliament of being one of the masterminds of the Lahad Datu incursion in Sabah in 2013.
